OUR WORK & VISIONS

Tanzania remains one of the poorest countries in the world to this day. Over half of its population struggles with poverty on a daily basis, with a quarter living in extreme poverty, surviving on less than 50 cents per day.

Addressing the Urgent Needs of Children in Poverty

Children are particularly affected by the drastic impacts of this poverty. Many are born into families where parents, due to financial or health reasons, cannot adequately care for them. Often, these children are left with relatives who are themselves overwhelmed and financially burdened, unable to provide proper care. Consequently, these children grow up in very poor and socially challenging conditions, urgently in need of support. Alongside basic needs such as food and shelter, it is crucial for us to ensure they receive love, affection, and access to education.

Transforming Education for Preschoolers

In addition to the poverty issue, there is also a severe educational problem. Public schools are overcrowded, with more than 50 children per class being the norm. The education system lags behind, with pedagogical concepts being scarce.Children are not taught to think independently, and rote memorization limits their development and creativity.

We aim to provide preschool children with an education that nurtures their individual abilities, fosters autonomy, and cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Our programs are designed not only to impart knowledge but also to develop critical thinking, creativity and social skills. We believe this type of education paves the way for sustainable change in their lives and in society.

Community Empowerment for Sustainable Change
Furthermore, we aspire to actively involve the community in our projects, as we firmly believe that collaboration with the community will empower them for self-sufficiency in the long run. Our vision is to create job opportunities for the community within our foundation while offering training and creative workshops. Through this, we aim to provide every member of the community with the opportunity to unfold their individual skills and personal development. Our guiding principle is empowerment through collaboration, as we are convinced this is the most sustainable way to effect positive change and permanently improve people's quality of life.

ACTIVE PROJECTS

Last year, the Ashei Foundation was able to provide a glimmer of hope for a better future to 30 children and a portion of the community through its programs and projects. Currently, we proudly highlight four active programs and projects focusing on educational initiatives and community engagement.

Educational programs

Kindergarten and preschool

For children aged 3-4, we provide loving care and playful learning in our daycare and preschool. Here, children have the opportunity to explore the world through play and gain their first learning experiences.

Babyclass:

From the age of 5, children attend the preparatory class where we specifically prepare them for formal schooling. We continuously train our caregiving staff to empower children with opportunities for independent and sustainable learning.

Support during the school years:

Once children reach the age of 6 and start compulsory schooling, our organization takes on the costs of school uniforms and materials. Ideally, through personal sponsorships, we aim to enroll children in private schools, ensuring they continue to have the best educational opportunities.

Job opportunities in our organization

Community involvement is important to us. So far, we have created several job opportunities within our foundation. Currently, our priority is to employ the families of the children and provide them with secure job opportunities.
